Getting Ready For Departure

We have 10 days before we leave everything we've ever known as "normal" to embark on an unforgettable journey. Since March Dennis has been preparing his business so he can continue to serve his clients while travelling. Indi (13), Ireland (13), and Annabelle (9) have been squeezing in every possible minute with Papa Frank, Grandpa Denny and Grandma Diane. I have been glued to the computer securing lodging for 86 days of travel in 6 countries. Raleigh (20 months) has been busy helping us to laugh non-stop with his silly antics and is enduring much teaching so he may have a happy heart through our travels.

The house is in excellent condition, ready to rent.
The Suburban is on the lot, waiting to be sold.
The season tickets will now be enjoyed by other devout Husker fans.
The family movie poster collection is on eBay.
The backpacks have been thoughtfully loaded on the lighter side (yes, we will get tired of seeing each other in the same 4 outfits but our backs and shoulders will be better for it).

And now we wait for our departure. It is quite odd to see the lives of those close to us swirling around and this time we aren't in the mix. Family and friends are school shopping for clothes and supplies while others prepare their hearts and curriculum for educating their children at home.  My parents are busy preserving the produce for the winter months and there is much talk of our family's annual fall party.

We will leave and life will go on.,.. fall sports will not wait for us.... Steph and Andy will have their baby.... Shannon, Jason and Angie will continue to train for road races and mountain climbs while I run through foreign lands with my girls. The Christmas production at CCC will be cast and Husker football will be played. Each one of us has thoughtfully given up something so we may continue to bond closer as a family, increasing our knowledge as global students all under the guidance of God the Almighty.
