Our Family Mission

Four years ago, we felt convicted by the following verses to educate our children at home: Deuteronomy 6:5-7 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
The togetherness that home schooling has allowed us has strengthened our family immensely but when you throw God into the middle of it we feel...well...comforted. We sometimes feel awkwardly different from many families but definitely comforted.  God is our rock, our go-to-guy, the center of our world.  Having a written road map of our priorities has helped us to slow down and stay focused on what is important to us.  The following is what we have learned about ourselves and what we continue to strive for daily.

1. Our family functions better together than apart.

2. Be intentional with how we educate our kids, academically and in life skills, we have them for such a short time.

3. Keep life simple by slowing down and be selective of opportunities outside our family, considering how each member will be affected.

4. Being unconventional is okay.  We need to do what works for our family while not passing judgment on others. We perform for an audience of One.

5. Be thankful in ALL things, God knows the big picture.

6. Keep our hearts and minds open to God so that he can truly be the potter and we the clay.  Surely his plan for our family will be far better than anything we come up with on our own.

7. Sometimes the biggest roadblock to a dream can be ourselves, get out of the way.  If we let go and let God, anything is possible.
