Villa d' Este in Tivoli

We moved to a country home just north of Rome 45 minutes.  The estate is gated with the drive lined by olive trees.  The girls were excited to have an upstairs and I was thankful for lots of windows and two bathrooms.

Our first adventure was to Villa d' Este in Tivoli which is a garden of 500 fountains.  It was built in the 16th century and was the first model for European gardens.  Many of the sculptures were of Greek Gods.

This is the Organ Fountain and it played an organ every couple of hours and we just happend to be there when it started playing.
Raleigh admiring another man.  He kept saying, "Hello." and waiting for a response!

We went into the church connected with the garden and it was small but beautiful.  This saint is noted for his dedication to the poor.

  1. I LOVE Raleigh saying "Hello" to the statue - what a hoot - he's such a sweetie! Sounds like you are all continuing to have a great time! I pray for all of you daily - for your safety and for you to all have patience with each other. Have you ever considered becoming a writer, Bly? I love the way you write and share your days, making it interesting and fun to read. Your children are SO blessed to have such great parents!
