The Last Supper

We went to my parents tonight for one last meal. Mom worked diligently for 2 days preparing Eggplant Parmesan, empinadas, black forest cake and peach pie. Ang and Shan also made delightful treats to fill our bellies. The kids got to say good bye to Chase and Ashton while the adults ate and visited. My heart goes out to my mom and dad. I know they are proud of us but the emotion of sadness and concern did linger in the air amongst the happy chatter.

We are so thankful to our family and our friends who have gone out of their way to allow our departure to be one filled with love and encouragement. There have been lovely parties, lunch dates, coffee time, phone calls, bike rides and walks. A big thank you to Frankie and Nancy for driving up from K.C. for one last visit and adventure race! And to Papa for taking in the kids while we finished up working at the house.

Anxiety begins to creep in as the hour of departure nears. I calm myself in reading Phil. 4:6-7 - Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus our Lord.
