Mt. Herzogstand

We got up in good time this morning. I think we’re all getting re-adjusted to the time change.  We are 7 hours ahead of you.  We were packed and ready to spend the day in Munich until Fritz, the owner of our home, suggested it was a clear day to go up Mt. Herzogstand.

First, we went to the local bakery for breakfast and ordered yummy apple treats but then everyone was still hungry so we looked around and saw the people around us eating a typical German breakfast so we ordered up again.

We started our day with Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Raleigh points us in the right direction.
Deciding to climb the mountain was the best decision.  We were able to ride a gondola up the mountain in front of Mt. Herzogstand then walk down the back side before we started our ascent up Mt. Herzogstand. We all felt a little reluctant as we stood there in our running shoes and shorts, with 5 snack bars and a liter of water.  The folks around us were decked out in hiking boots, walking sticks and backpacks.  Oh, why not? Let’s go get some adventure. Up, up and away we went.

Our final destination is at the top.
We all felt a little breathless when we took our first few steps off of the Gondola but then nestled into a pace and were fine.  Dennis did great hauling Raleigh on his back.  The rocks going down the backside of the first mountain were slippery but we didn't have any spills.  The mountain you see here is Herzogstand. We are looking across from the mountain in front of it that we are working our way down to get to the base so we can start going up.
Mom and Raleigh at the summit.
At the top!
Started at top of this mountain.
